Safe Communities Incentive Program (SCIP)
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) offers the Safe Communities
Incentive Program (SCIP), which promotes workplace health and safety and can
reduce WSIB costs for small businesses.
Through SCIP, you can receive a fixed 5% rebate on your WSIB insurance
premiums when you complete the program requirements. Along with potential
insurance rebates and a safer workplace, there are many other benefits to
participating in SCIP, including:
- Self-reliance in managing WSIB claims and return- to-work
- Improved productivity and efficiency
- Reduced need for replacement workers
- Reduced lost time
- Increased financial competitiveness
- Reduced equipment damage.
You are eligible to join SCIP if your firm:
- is a registered Schedule 1 firm contributing to the WSIB's insurance fund,
- pays $90,000 or less in WSIB premiums per year,
- is not part of the Safety Groups Program or a past SCIP participant.
